Our NHL betting expert is here to offer his Devils vs Coyotes predictions and picks ahead of Tuesday’s game, which starts at 10 pm ET in Glendale, Ariz.
The New Jersey Devils look to win consecutive road games for the first time since February when they visit the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday in Glendale, Ariz.
The Devils (25-41-6, 56 points) snapped a five-game winless skid overall (0-4-1) and nine-game road losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday afternoon.
The Coyotes (22-45-5, 49 points), in turn, have dropped 10 of their last 12 games overall (2-9-1) and have been outscored 16-3 during their current three-game losing skid. Arizona’s troubles continued on Saturday with a lopsided 6-1 setback to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Lead by example
Captain Nico Hischier had an assist before scoring the go-ahead goal with 1:11 remaining in the third period to lift the Devils over the Stars.
The top overall pick of the 2017 NHL Draft matched his career high of 20 goals from his rookie season and secured his 200th point, becoming the second player from that draft class to reach the milestone (Vancouver’s Elias Pettersson).
Jesper Bratt notched an assist on Hischier’s power-play goal in the first period of New Jersey’s 4-1 loss to Arizona on Jan. 19. Bratt, who leads the team in both assists (44) and points (67), has been held off the scoresheet in five of his last six games.
Defenseman Ty Smith scored on Saturday to mark the second time that he has tallied in back-to-back games this season. He also accomplished the feat on March 6-8.
Defenseman Damon Severson has stepped up on the offensive end by recording one point in eight of his last 10 games.
Severson’s totals in assists (31) and points (41) serve as career highs, while his 10 goals are one shy of his personal-best 11 set in 2018-19.

Phil to rescue
Phil Kessel recorded his 550th career assist and team-leading 37th of the season after setting up Barrett Hayton for a goal midway into the first period on Saturday.
Kessel has tormented the Devils dating back to his time with the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins, collecting 41 points (15 goals, 26 assists) in 52 career meetings.
Nick Schmaltz was held off the scoresheet on Saturday after contributing eight points (four goals, four assists) in his previous nine games.
The 26-year-old resides second on the team in both goals (career-high 22) and points (50) behind injured Clayton Keller (28, 63).
While those numbers sound promising, now let’s address the elephant in the room. Arizona averages a league-worst 2.47 goals per game while its punchless power play has converted just 13.6 percent of the time.
Considering New Jersey has scored on 17.0 percent of its power plays, the under seems like a safe bet in this one.

Road vs Home woes
While the Devils skated away victorious in their last encounter, they still have recorded the fewest road wins in the NHL.
Their 9-24-2 record away from the Garden State is enough to make anyone blush, however they’ll face a team with just 10 wins in front of its own fans in the Coyotes.
A quick start will make all the difference on Tuesday, and the Devils should have a spring in their step after shooting down the Stars on Saturday.
