Q:
# A jet took 4 hours to fly 1800 miles against a head wind, jets speed was 525 miles per hour what was the wind speed

Accepted Solution

A:

Well its a pretty strong wind the answer is 75 mph

First you find out the distance without the wind which is 4x525 or 2,100

Now subtract 1800 from that and you get 300

But you’re still not done because 300 is the number of miles effected by the wind in the whole flight of 4 hours.

So just divide it by 4 and you get 75. So the wind is a 75 mph wind.
