Sports from 7:30 a.m. to midnight
You will have to be up early… and go to bed late to follow the entire Paris Games, which Eurosport will broadcast in full on its platforms. The events will start at 7:30 am and end at 11:30 pm on weekdays, with a little extra half hour of fun at the weekend: on Saturdays and Sundays, the day will end at midnight.
The Olympic basketball tournament will ultimately not take place at the Parc des Expositions

Ceremonies for all
It was a wish of the organizing committee: to allow a maximum of sportsmen who wish it to be able to attend, at least, one of the two ceremonies. The handball players as well as the athletes participating in the sailing events will be based respectively in Lille and Marseille. But so that they can take part in the opening ceremony on the Seine on Friday July 26, no match has been scheduled for Saturday morning in hand and sailing will start on Sunday 28.
The footballers will not play on Friday 26 and the first matches will not start until 3 p.m. the day after the inaugural ceremony. There remained the thorny case of surfers, whose events will take place in Tahiti. They will obviously not be able to be in Paris on July 26, but the competitions will be launched on Saturday 27 to allow those who wish to return to mainland France to experience the closing ceremony.

Kick-off on D-2
If the official kick-off will therefore be given on Friday July 26 at the opening ceremony, sport will not wait for this inauguration to take possession of the Paris Games. From Wednesday 24, three team sports will open the ball. These are handball, at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium in Lille, rugby sevens, at the Stade de France, as well as football, in the various cities selected for the men’s and women’s tournaments (Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Bordeaux, Nice and Saint Etienne).
Evening finals for swimming and athletics
In Beijing in 2008, as in Tokyo last year, the swimming finals, as well as certain athletics finals (including Carsten Warholm’s famous 400m hurdles world record) were contested in the morning at local time in order to satisfy demands of the American media. These finals, viewers installed in front of their screens in the United States had been able to experience them in “prime time”.
But the sportsmen, themselves, do not appreciate in their vast majority having to deliver the race of a life early in the morning. During the 2024 Games, a return to tradition: all the finals of the two major Olympic sports will be held in the evening, in the Arena La Défense basin for swimming, and of course at the Stade de France for what is athletics. The series will take place during the day session.

A fiery weekend in the middle
Do not plan anything on the weekend of August 3 and 4, 2024. It will be, on paper in any case, the densest of the entire Olympic fortnight. Despite their desire for daily balance in the programming, the organizers have concocted two days of a richness that makes you want to. It is first at this time that swimming, which will complete its tests, and athletics, which will begin its own, will meet. In total, no less than fifteen sports will award medals over these two days:
Tennis, Table tennis, Judo (with the mixed team event that crowned France in Tokyo), Fencing, Athletics, Archery, Shooting, Cycling (with online races), Golf, Horse riding, Rowing , Artistic Gymnastics, Badminton and Swimming.
La Concorde epicenter of the Games
In the heart of Paris, at the bottom of the Champs-Elysées, the Place de la Concorde was chosen to embody one of the highlights of these Parisian Olympic Games. There will be almost non-stop sport from Saturday July 27 to Sunday August 15, the date of the closing ceremony.
This urban park will host almost continuously from D+1 (Saturday July 27) to D+15 (Saturday August 10) four spectacular sports, which will never evolve at the same time, in order to offer everyone the best possible visibility. .
Skateboard “Street” athletes will be the first to compete at the foot of the Obelisk. The B-Girls and B-Boys of Breaking, which will be their very first appearance on the official program of the Olympic Games, will have the privilege, two weeks later, of completing the sports program at Place de la Concorde in apotheosis.

No duplicates for team sports finals
You may remember this epic day of August 7, 2021 when, in the space of half an hour, the Blues of the hand and those of the volleyball had conquered Olympic gold in Tokyo. A page of history, but a heartbreak to have to choose between these two simultaneous appointments. In Paris, in two years, this pitfall will be avoided. In order not to have duplicates, the team sports finals will be spread over four days, from Thursday to Sunday of the second week.
This concerns in particular the three main indoor sports of basketball, handball and volleyball, but also football, field hockey, beach volleyball and water polo, the aim being to offer each of these decisive encounters for the title of the most important exhibition possible.
